Jeopardy Los Angeles, CA – Jeopardy, a American game show, is going to challenge man vs. robot this February.  It is  part of a competition which will display just how effective researchers have been in developing a computer which can imitate a person’s thinking ability.

The two guys that are, without question, Jeopardy’s most victorious contestants, Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter, will have to play two games going up against Watson.  Watson is a robot on a computer system manufactured by IBM.

The two games are going to be held over a period of three days and are going to air February 14 to 16.  The champion receives a $1 million reward.  IBM stated it planned to donate any earnings to a charitable organization.  Jennings and Rutter both stated they too will also grant one half of their earnings to charity.

Watson was named after the founder of IBM, Thomas J. Watson.  Watson is not a fiscal “robot,” instead Watson is a computer with all the programming and technology on the inside.  According to IBM, Watson is going to be symbolized by a round figure on a computer screen.

This computer has been put into action  many times against other Jeopardy winners.  However, IBM and Jeopardy are remaining tight lipped and refused to state precisely what are Watson’s  full capabilities.
